When’s the last time you sidled up to the bell of a tuba and let its warm, rich, funky sound envelope you as it filled the room? Now layer in some spitfire New Orleans trumpet and serpentine clarinet lines, and you’ve got a sound that helped define American music – and still gets people smiling, laughing and dancing.
Josiah Reibstein & The Hubtones tap into that iconic sound with some of Boston’s finest traditional jazz musicians, delivering swinging, high-energy sets rooted in New Orleans-style jazz. With playful arrangements and a repertoire of classics and clever surprises, the Hubtones serve up “trad jazz” that’s brassy, bawdy and fun.
